C Average- Second Reckoning

I realize this whole stoner/metal hip revival has done a whole lot for half-assed bands who derive their jollies from cranking out "mystifying" guitar harmonies and crumbing riffs to cobwebbed Van Halen fans, but I can't help but to pay tribute to C Average's brand of unlawful chaotic Dungeons & D-tuned symphonies. This Olympia, Washington duo blasts forth with some intriguingly satisfying fret work that harkens back to the days when owning a Fucking Champs album gave you some kind of audiophilic credibility. Laced with vague dungeon-esque references (not mentioning a sweet Blue Cheer cover), C Average call all jaded stoner metal fans back to duty. Bitching and insane double bass drum ticklings, set the table for guitarist Jon Merithew's mind-shattering riffage. Second reckoning is truly an album to be reckoned with.
