I don't know Jack Squat about 16 Horsepower, the other band run by one David Eugene Edwards, the ringleader of thissear outfit. In any case, I have give a hearty thumbs-up to this album, be it "16-Horsepower Mark II" or not. Quite the drony affair, in the mode of Palace/Oldham, southern gothic, with only a scant trace of hill folk sentiment. This is more misty Nawlins at dawn, snakes under the sink, kudzu growing on the backs of the men planted in their stools at the bar.
