Apemen- Surfvival of de Onbeschofste
Reviewed by Yale McPondicherry on or about Oct 10, 2003

Apemen1
Without a doubt the most frenetic, caffeinated goddamn surf record I've ever heard. The Apemen are a Dutch band that has taken the sacred traditions of surf music, crammed them all into a centrifuge and poured Red Bull on the whole thing. The result is some crazed supersonic surf music that leaves the listener debilitated, yet strangely satisfied. And as if the sheer velocity with which these songs are executed isn't enough, they got an organ player that plays out of one of them spinning horn deals (Leslie speakers?), and he's way up in the mix, making the whole thing that much more shrill and manic and frenzied. This record provides an excellent sonic backdrop for late-night driving and/or violent sexual encounters.
