Narrow Gate is a fictional novel about good triumphing over evil with man overcoming many obstacles. The setting is San Antonio and the murder-mystery intrigue crisscrosses Texas into the Gulf of Mexico and leads to offshore banking. The plot incorporates all the stereotypical Texas elements of money, ranching and greed. Also woven into the narrative is a compelling overview of the petroleum industry covering everything from prospect to pipeline. The story hatches a murder-mystery stretching across a one-year period. A patriarch's death leaves a vast estate up for grabs between a widow and her stepson. Unknown to them, an illegitimate son has a birthright claim to the estate as well. The widow's contrived death casts a shadow over the others. Their ensuing struggles against law enforcement, greed, and death characterize two brothers for what each really holds dear. A strong female character adds to the volatile mix. Interspersed within the story is the timeless message of salvation by grace, through faith. Biblical scriptures are reconciled with science. The ending finds the brothers bruised and battered yet both better off for having experienced those situations that temper with fire.
